Love
When I challenged a friend recently about using his artistic talent, I realized that I had not written a song or a poem for a long time. It’s therapeutic to use one’s gifts. I knew that, but hadn’t been practicing it. So this is what came to me as I surrendered my mind to poetry. Is there something you need to put into practice today? Maybe the challenge of I Corinthians 13?
Love
Easy to say.
Hard to do.
Easy to promise,
But follow through
Is a difficult task.
It may ask
For grace
At such a pace
That I falter,
But that doesn’t alter
The expectations.
How can I give it,
Faithfully live it
When weakness reigns
And selfishness gains
A foothold?
I must kneel at the cross,
Embrace the loss
That Jesus suffered –
All for love.
Then I can gain
Triumph through pain.
I cannot complain
When His resurrection
Empowers me.
