Wedding Mode
We are in wedding mode here. We live with our son and daughter-in-law, and their youngest son is getting married in a few days. So there’s lots of last minute things to do. You can only do so much ahead of time. Now it’s the crunch at the end. And lots of anticipation!
It’s gotten me thinking about another wedding coming up. Those of us who belong to Christ are His bride. We are making preparations. Not that we have to do a lot of planning. God is arranging all of that. Our part is to have our hearts and our garments ready. And even that is taken care of by the Lord if we are His humble servants. We just need to be filled with love, undivided and fervent, as we wait for Him to come and claim His bride.
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” – 1 Peter 3:3-4
“I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him.” – 2 Corinthians 11:2
“I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.” – Revelation 21:2
“Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.” – Revelation 19:7
How is the anticipation level? There’s a wedding coming up. The trouble is we don’t know the date. But we know that we are to be ready at any time. I’m so excited! How about you?
