Newborns

Yay! Our family has welcomed a new baby. It’s so exciting! Our grandson and wife have a beautiful baby girl, their first. Our daughter and son-in-law have their first grandchild. You can imagine how happy they are. This is great-grandchild number five for my husband and me. It never gets old. Each newborn is a welcome addition to our family.

A new life means a new name, new clothes, a special new place just for the baby. And there is a lot of excitement on the part of the whole family. Who does she resemble? Who does he act like? Who will this little one become? Lots of anticipation.

I’ve been thinking about how much celebration there is in heaven when each new spiritual birth occurs. There is rejoicing. (Luke 15:10: “There is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”) Everything is new. (II Corinthians 5:17: “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”) There’s a new name written in the book of life. There are new clothes provided. No filthy rags. Just righteousness, worn like a beautiful, white, spotless robe. At least that’s the vision in the spirit realm.

Do you ever wish that you could see more of what is going on in that realm? I wonder how many newborns are being welcomed into the God’s family today. How can we celebrate? How can we be more aware of new lives being born? How can we be involved? By witnessing? By praying? By reading about what is transpiring, not only in our communities, but around the world? How can we help build a welcoming and safe environment for the newborns among us?
